This is one of the largest of the "Buffalo Jump" sites in Montana and North America. From the days before horses... called the "dog days" when dogs yoked up a travois to drag family processions for the native family.

Excellent little hike. Information center was really nice

Quiet and beautiful. 3 mile hike

Wonderful to see how the Native Americans hoarded the buffalo off the cliff to make hunting a little easier. Make sure you stop at the visitor information center at the bottom. Great views!

Loved it! A quality Montana State Park staffed by friendly, knowledgeable people. Excellent displays and interpretations of genuine artifacts. A comfortable hike or a short drive takes you to the Jump with its panaromic views. Easy to imagine a huge, thundering herd of buffalo stampeding up the incline! So how did the Indians stampede and guide the buffalo to the Jump when they didn't have horses? How did all the tribes coordinate their Jumps?
